PoA47 · Post-Harvest Loss Reduction through Low-Carbon Cold Chains: Build renewable-powered cold storage facilities, efficient refrigerated transport fleet...

Agriculture in Ghana loses up to 30–50% of perishable produce after harvest due to inadequate storage and inefficient logistics, driving food insecurity, farmer income losses, and unnecessary emissions from wasted production. This programme will transform the post-harvest system in the Volta Economic Corridor by deploying climate-smart, renewable-powered cold storage facilities at agro-parks, inland aggregation centres, and the Tamale Air Cargo Hub. Efficient refrigerated transport fleets using natural refrigerants with low global warming potential will be introduced to maintain product quality from farm to market while minimising emissions.
